THE SLOW ROAD TO HELL

I wish I’d written this

This is an outstanding novel. An excellent murder mystery plot to hinge it all together with the added spice of a relationship between two men being reborn after many years apart. The characters were very well drawn and the style of the prose brought me right in until I felt like I was part of the book myself. The gay romance isn’t the only romance going on and it shouldn’t put anybody off. Altogether a very intelligent novel that treats the reader with intelligence too. Well done Grant, and as one fellow writer to another, I wish I’d written this!

Murder Mystery

There is nothing like a good murder mystery to keep me from all those boring household chores and this story didn’t just have one murder it had three! And where I’m not so sure that a close relative would ethically be allowed to consult on the murder of a family member I found that it really didn’t bother me in the slightest. The main characters were likeable and I honestly had no inkling who the bad guy was so it kept my interest. All in all an enjoyable read.

Bona Book

Haven’t had such a good gay read since “The Glory Hole Murders!! Usually, gay literature is full of gratuitous sex, the sex scene in this book followed naturally from the plot and was not at all distasteful. A very well thought out plot and a real potboiler! I sat up until 3am reading it, just to get to the denouement. Please Mr Atherton, bring on the other novels!

An m/m mystery romance with a touch of angst

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had a nice balance between romance and mystery and an English setting, what more could you ask for. I am looking forward to more from Grant Atherton.

British gay murder mystery

Great to see a gay murder mystery set in Britain, definitely need more. Well written and a smooth read. Looking forward to the next book.

Well-crafted murder/mystery

Well written with a smart story and plot. I look forward to more from this author.

A great and wonderful read

I got this book on the Amazon unlimited free book on the off chance it was something new. The story was a slow start as should any crime story be. The build you to the ex-lovers meeting was lovely you really do feel for the protagonist even if you feel like you wanted to give to! A great big slap.

I look forward to the next story with Mikey and Nathan. {Ps this book will be bought soon so I can keep it. Will look for paperback version if possible}

Start of a Great Series

Well written characters really interesting story.

I was hooked and stayed up all night to find not just plot but what develops between two main leads. I wasn’t disappointed.

Can’t for the next book!

DEAD FEINT

2nd great book in this new series

I really enjoyed Grant Atherton’s first book in this series and had to wait a long time for this next book in the series. but Oh it was worth the wait and good to meet the regular characters again. Apart from being a good murder mystery, it’s the background stories of the rest of the people that live in Elders Edge and surrounding towns that make it all come to life.
I hope I don’t have to wait too long for the next in the series. I’m anxious to see how Mikey and Nathan’s relationship progresses.

Great Story

Really enjoyed this well-written story. Must admit I didn’t see the murderer until near the end, but it was a great journey getting there. Recommended.

Great Read, Great Mystery

A great mystery with a believable plot and, for me, a surprise ending. This is such a cut above the usual mysteries in this genre, as the clinical psychological elements are well researched and interesting. No psychic detectives here! I enjoyed the development of the protagonist’s relationship, as well.
Well done!

Good Story – Great Plot

I liked the characters, they were honest and flawed. The descriptions and locations are interesting and realistic. Looking forward to next book

Murder at Elders Edge

What a fantastic second book from Mr Atherton! It kept me turning page after page even though I knew I should actually get some sleep.
Mikey has returned to Elders Edge to try and rebuild his relationship with Nathan. When a friend who’s also a student of Mikey asks for help investigating the now cold case of his sister’s murder in the woods near Elders Edge, Mikey finds himself working with Nathan and his men at the local police station. Much to Nathan’s ire the dead girl’s brother turns up in the village and ends up staying with Mikey which causes even more friction between Nathan and Mikey.
The book is an emotional rollercoaster with a brilliant whodunnit plot and a rising body count. Can’t wait for book three!
